Sunday Night at the Cinemas

When you've hit the blues, or even the mean reds, there are a few go-tos that you can turn to for a pick-me-up.    If food, booze, friends, or sleeping don't do it, try the movies.  But I don't mean sissy snuggle in bed with your laptop and a box of tissues in PJs.  Put on some clean clothes and head for the big screen, a large popcorn, and an extra-large fountain-pop medley.  The key:  go alone.  The trick:  pick the perfect movie, and don't be shy to ask for recommendations from the pimply curly-haired 15-year-old ticket vendor with the thick glasses sliding off his nose (he's good at it!).  Some might opt for the comedies, others for adventures.  I find the internationally recognized and acclaimed are always a sure-fire win.
Last night, «Les intouchables» hit the spot.  Good laughs, good tunes, good dancing, fast cars, scenery, heights,  gangsters (reminiscing of good ol' childhood times in the east), a solid message - all the things that I love.  What better way to chase the dull Vancouver clouds away?

(It even has subtitles for all you non-Frenchies out there.)
