Iona Beach Regional Park is a nice scenic strip of land accessible off the back road of the Vancouver airport. You have the option of walking along the shoreline or on winding man-made trails in the back grasslands. Two major features of the park are the Iona Jetty and the North Arm Jetty. The North Arm Jetty is the less popular sand bar that travels parallel to the Vancouver shoreline towards UBC Endowment Lands. I could see it from my Marine apartment when I lived on campus. The other more frequented southern jetty, Iona Jetty, is a gravel and concrete path that stretches 4km one way into the Strait of Georgia. It makes for a really nice stroll! Except when you're looking for someone... The thing about the jetty is it covers a large sewage pipe that pumps along the length of it. So if you're in search of someone and realize they are not at the end of the jetty, don't try to shortcut back to the beach by jumping off the jetty and treking through the muddy sand... The cuts on your feet will sting, because you're literally walking in people's S***!
Other than that, it's a beautiful marvelous spectacular place, and it doesn't even reek!
